The Chase Story...
When our seven week old daughter, Chase, came down with a 102
degree fever I assumed she had gotten her first flu bug. When her
fever kept climbing after multiple doses of Tylenol, I thought it was
prudent to take her to the pediatrician. I was next to tears when he
told me to take her to the Emergency Room immediately. I called
my husband as I drove to the hospital and explained the situation.
With a shaky voice he said, “Jen, we can’t really afford this.” I already knew that, but
replied, “We can’t afford not to take her.”
A few months prior my husband had walked into work on an ordinary Monday
morning. He was unexpectedly greeted by the owners of the mortgage company he
worked for. They announced the company was bankrupt and closing its doors –
tomorrow! Over the course of three months we used all our reserves while my
husband searched and prayed for another opportunity. I was six months pregnant
with out health insurance and the breadwinner of the family was running out of dough.
Thanks to Gods faithfulness and provision he was hired at another company four
weeks before I delivered. Naturally, when our daughter was hospitalized we were first
and foremost concerned about her health. However, the thought of thousands of
dollars of bills being added to our already full plate, coupled with the anxiety of having
an ill child, was very overwhelming. We spent many hours crying and holding our baby
as we prayed for answers.
After many tests, the Doctors told us Chase had a severe Urinary Tract Infection
caused by a congenital abnormality related to her kidneys. After 48 hours of IV
antibiotics they discharged her. Since then she has been on medicine which
continues to prevent any further infections or scarring of her kidneys. The Urologist
feels that there is a significant chance that as her body grows and matures her kidney
reflux will heal itself!
God always provides. Through the Kendall family and the Zander fund, God has
provided an immense relief from a financial burden that we would have had to carry
for many years! We can never express what an amazing blessing you all have been to
our family. Until recently we were feeling very alone in our struggles. God has shown
us that He has strategically placed members of His body in specific places where
they will do the most good. The Kendall family, The Zander fund, The Board of
Directors and all the generous donors are all a very special and select group. To say
“Thank you” is inadequate. I wish I could give you a piece of the immense happiness
and overwhelming joy I feel in my heart when I look at our beautiful baby girl. Perhaps
then you could understand how grateful we are for your gift to our family.
Thank you and God Bless!
Sincerely,
Chris, Jennie & Chase Craig
